General guidelines for The Lounge:

• The Lounge is now available to all.

• At certain times when it is difficult to monitor the board, or if problems occur or are anticipated, posting may be restricted to registered posters. We will register¹ users upon email request: send a nick and password to ssforums@elitemail.org.

  Note: If you were registered for the Tech Forum when the Lounge first opened you have been registered at the Lounge automatically. See Registration Notes, below.

• If preferred, users may submit text to be posted by proxy. Just send the text and your nick to ssforums@elitemail.org and specify that you'd like it posted to the Lounge "by proxy". Posting by proxy may be useful if you wish to discuss information that could be identifying if posted under your regular nick.

• The Lounge is designed as a support and general conversation forum for BLs. The rules will be enforced rigorously. The Lounge is not a place for flames, harrassment or ridicule. Any such posts will be deleted, and repeat offenders will have their registrations cancelled.

• Every effort will be made to moderate The Lounge with a minimum of personal bias. In cases where there exists some doubt as to what action should be taken, the membership may be polled for opinions. The Lounge is not a democracy but we don't want to be excessively authoritarian either.

• Sigpics have now been implemented. See our sigpics file for information. Registered posters may also link images to their posts. Sexually explicit and/or nudes are not allowed.

¹ Registration notes:

• Unregistered posters may not post links, image links or email addresses. Also, unregistered posters' browsers must supply an HTTP REFERRER. This means that some proxy servers may not work unless you are registered.
• Prospective posters will normally be registered on request, whether we know you or not.
• We may refuse to register BC/OC/MBC etc. posters who have a history of causing problems.
• Registrations may be revoked at any time for posters who flagrantly break the rules. Temporary suspensions are also possible.
• You don't need to use the same nick on the Lounge as you use elsewhere. Any attempts to link nicks with existing ones will be deleted.
• There are certain restrictions on nicks. We won't register nicks that are composed of profane words (even if disguised), that are copyright terms, or that are names of well known persons (actors, politicians, scientists, etc.). Names of fictional characters are allowed if copyright has expired.
