After having Erick visit at least three time a day if not more, finally the detective came back. He handed me an enveloppe, there was a paper that said the car was investigated, considered abandonned, and with it I could go get a registration to become the rightful owner, but that was like a stored car it still had to go through a full inspection before it could be plated.

The detective had the whole thing solved, 8 years ago, the owner of the car and the house lost his wife, the old man was over 80yrs old. He locked himself in the garage and ran it to commit suicide. His son inherited the house and since at the beginning the garage was offlimits as being a crime scene, he decided to never go back into it.

The son lived on and off in the house, made many renovations to make it more modern and practical, then it seems, he moved away 3 years ago abandonning everything. He stopped paying taxes, he previously borrowed money on the house and the bank seized it. I bought it, as is, with everything in it and on the ground, including the tools in the garage and the car.

Erick saw the detective's car, and ran over just in time to see him leave. He asked so? is it OURS?. I said yes and showed him the news paper insert that was in the enveloppe talking about the suicide. He went EWWWW, does that mean the car is dammed?

NOO, if someone jumps off a bridge, Erick, does that means the bridge or the river is dammed? He looked at me puzzled, added so we can restore it?
I said yes. He jumped in to my arms, knocking me right off balance, falling on my back with him on top of me.He appologised but I said it's ok you're allowed to be happy. I wasn't going to complain, that was the best contact with a boy I had in years.

When do we start?
First, Erick we need to check it all out, see what it needs, where do we start, what has to be done, the availibility of parts, and finally the cost of the venture. Again:
When do we start?

I had about 2 hours before to leave for work, so I showed him the tools and asked him to take out the seats, the carpets and the doors lining, if he could, these were mangled by the mice. I'd go inside have something to eat, shower and go to work, we'd see each others next day.

I previously bought a new lock for the garage door, asked him if he thought he could install it, he said yes, so I told him, do what you can, when finish if you get all of it done or when you've had enough lock the doors, I have a key in the house and this spare one is yours.

Once more, he raced towards me, but stopped just inches away and gave me a hug. WOW, I hope he gets a habit from this ;)

When I came out of the house the lock was installed and properly, he looked at me with a can of rust off spay, he had one bolt of the passenger seat remove out of 4, and just said, they're frozen tight, you'll need to buy a lot more of that stuff.

I smiled and said we'll do. I checked the garage door lock and it was perfectly installed, never knew a 12 yrs old could be good at doing things like that. I waved and left. His father stopped me, asking if I minded to leave Erick alone, for all he knew, Erick could break things, or take apart unnessesary things. I told him it didn't matter, so far no money is invested. Then came the question: Do you really think it can be done?
I simply replied, it defenitely can't if we don't try.
