A day off work and I beleived I could sleep in. Wrong. I heard noise from the garage, Erick was already in there. I grabbed clothes, and a coffee. The two seats were off, the carpet was folded and the door paneling were lying on the floor. What next he asked We need a quote for the seats carpet and door paneling, plus a battery to check the electrical sytem. Ok he said, and off we went. I didn't know that remaking seats could be so expensive, leather, tissue or leatherette (vynil) the quote was quite high, but it could wait a lot, many other things needed to be checked. We bought a car battery, brought back the seat and paneling. Once home, we connected the battery, sparks all over the place, yes the mice, we found a harness under the dashboard that was chewed. We disconnected the battery and re-taped every wire. By then half the day was gone by. There was still time to reconnect the battery, no sparks, everything looked ok, Erick wanted to started the engine, it was a defenite NOO, we need to pull the plugs, squirt oil in to the cylindres and let it sink to the rings. Once we removed the plugs oiled the cylinders, we cranked a little, the starter went right away on command, the engine turned. Erick was on a cloud. I told him it was fine, we should let it sit and call it a day. Erick wasn't pleased, but aggreed to it. He left for home and I went to the autopart to buy engine oil and a filter, I was sure the old oil needed to be replaced. Then I came back to have supper and a deserved rest. SB ![]() |
