First, do not use a Microsoft program to view your images. I use ACDSee, which isn't free, but works well. IrfanView, which is free, seems pretty good too, but I have not checked its platelet count (i.e. if it bleeds easily). Second, turn off thumbnail generation in your viewer. On ACDSee you can tell it not to save thumbnails, but they could still end up in your swap file. Not easy to find them, though. If you use something like BestCrypt, you can encrypt your swapfile. Third, tell Explorer NOT to save the recent documents list. If Explorer doesn't have this feature it's probably in TweakUI, which is a freebie from Microsoft.
