Forget about Parted Magic, I can gather from your posts that you have never used a live CD/DVD before. The best you can do is to try it out because Linux can be a bit overwhelming for newbies during the first days, since it has few programs in common with Windows. I think Ubuntu Privacy Remix DVD will be more suited for your needs: https://www.privacy-cd.org/en Ubuntu Privacy Remix is ideal for newbies and as it comes as a DVD it fits much more software, all live CDs and DVDs are confined to use whatever programs they come with. UBR only has one downside, it has no internet access, it has an internet browser to see webpages, but it can not access the internet, this is done on purpose. The developers believe that the best way to avoid internet infiltration while you are vieweing private data is not to have internet in the first place, so they disabled networking by default. UBR has specifically been designed to watch and read files offline stored on an external Truecrypt container through the live CD, which is what you want to do. You should be able to watch video, images and text without problems, there could be some missing codec, I am not sure about this. If you really need a live CD with internet access and Truecrypt then try Parted Magic. If you need a live CD for anonymous internet browsing (tor already configured) and Truecrypt, then try "Incognito: http://anonymityanywhere.com/incognito The sooner you get started into the wonderful World of Linux live CDs, the safer you will be, they are a great privacy weapon. Sure it has a learning curve like everything, but it is worth it. I would start with UPR first, and once you are comfortable with it, try the others. ![]() |
