Actually I think we are talking about two separate things. I am talking about when I go into "search" via the Start button and ask for a file by name. If it ends in .flv for example, the search will end with no files found. When I look at the extensions list, .flv is not in the list of known file extensions. And I think that is the reason it ignores them in searches. I'd like to change that.
