Some questions to answer

* Does it make a difference if you swap the two .5G or 2G SIMMs?

* Have you checked all the BIOS settings in case there are any pertaining
to SIMM sizes and/or active slots?

* Is there an option to revert to factory default BIOS settings?

* Are there wait state settings that differ between the slots in the BIOS?

* Do the .5G and 2G SIMMs have the same connectors? (look closely)

* Did you happen to save a copy of your CMOS data prior to the troubles?
(If you did, good for you. If not, get a CMOS backup & restore utility
and do so once you get your system working again. If linked to a repair
CD that has such a program.)

* Are the 2G SIMMs still under warranty? (If so, see if the vendor will take
them back and test them.)
