The best clue I can give here is that ever since I put the 2 gig into that slot, neither the one nor half gig sticks work, but I can still put the 2 gig stick in and it registers. I probably shouldn't be doing it, but right now my system is showing 3 gigs of RAM (1+2). Why in the world would that slot suddenly refuse to acknowlege anything else? I've never heard of anything so ridiculous, and I can't seem to find anything online about it anywhere. They do have the same connectors. I have indeed reset the bios defaults, as well as run the manufacturer's update bios program about three times now. I am at a total loss. The 2 gig I just bought the other day, but that's not the issue of course. It works fine. It just screws with my computer because from everything I've read, my computer cannot take more than 2 gigs total. It screws with my graphics. Any videos go haywire, and within a few seconds it makes my screen go black and I can't break out of it without pulling out the plug. At this point I just want the computer to recognize the other memory sticks. You would think.... that if I had fried something, then nothing would show when inserted into that slot. And yet only the 2 gig stick registers with bios. So your guess is as good as mine at this point:( |
