I see you have a misunderstanding of what this board is about. It is not a board of all knowing geeks. It is a board of posters that share what knowledge they have about computers. As for myself, I can't answer about Google Earth because I decided years ago to not load up my system with another application that consumes my resources when Google Maps has satisfied my needs. Back when I made the decision, I just saw it as something to wow the mindless hoards. My feeling it was just a gee whiz application that has no useful purpose. That is just my rationale of why I didn't install it. As for safe, that is a question only you can answer because it depends on how you define safe. If you are worried about it searching your hard drive and sending to some spying group all your personal information then you are probably safe because there are enough paranoid hackers out there that would make it public that they are spying on you. Now it doesn't mean that it won't send back information on what you have been viewing with it because that helps them optimize their product. They can get that information just from their logs but some do it in the application to get it to use your resources to track your behavior. So you need to define why you want to use it and if you feel like it is worth the risk to use it. SNAFU |
