Responsibility of Administrators
Several posts in the recent past have berated the administrators of this forum for errors, omissions, or failure to forsee all consequences in technical responses. This page lays out the responsibility of the administrators - currently Somersault and KRB - and defines the limits of such responsibility.
Administrators are responsible for:
- Keeping the Tech Forum in operation and available to as many posters as possible. This may include setting the board to require registration from time to time.
- Addressing technical problems with the operation of the boards (such as, but not limited to, bad links, errors in the script, difficulty with posting) within a reasonable time frame, provided that such errors are within the control of the administration (we are unable to modify the script, for example).
- Applying the rules in a consistent and unbiased manner.
- Deleting any illegal material or links in a timely manner.
- Deleting spam, and rendering the board secure during spam attacks.
Administrators are not responsible for:
- The technical accuracy of posts on the Tech Forum, whether made by the administrators or any other posters.
- In depth research to support technical suggestions. In many cases technical responses may be made based on accumulated knowledge; we do not guarantee that any specific suggestion has been tested to be sure it works.
- Unexpected results or damage to software resulting from the application of suggestions made on the Tech Forum. While we make every reasonable effort to give good advice, mistakes can happen.
While we welcome corrections, modifications and extensions to advice given, we do not accept the implication that we have been malicious or intentionally careless in preparing responses.
If posters accept these limits, we will be pleased to continue giving advice to the best of our ability.
